Bunnyman the film was recommended to me by a friend who turned it off after 3 minutes, finding it awful. After reading the Wikipedia article on the film I decided it was really something that need to be watched.
What followed was some of the most amazing footage I have ever seen. The best way to describe Bunnyman is a comparison with Drive. Drive is a car film, but without all the dialogue and gratuitous action. Instead we are treated to pleasing visual shots with a plot that moves along underneath. Bunnyman seems to be an attempt to do what Drive did to car films, to the horror genre. One scene that demonstrates this well is a classic of horror films, teens driving along in a car. Whereas a normal horror film would fill this time with dialogue allowing us to build up some sort of character relationship, Bunnyman replaces this with long slow shots of the teens in the car, no talking, no action and not enough shots of the highway around them which would have been much more interesting.
And this still would have been a bad film if they had got the visuals right, but they didn’t Nothing about this film seems to redeem it. The style it’s shot in is very pretentious, but the storyline, dialogue, acting, directing, makeup/costume, visuals, are all utterly awful. I encourage you whole heartedly to watch this film and enjoy it, think of it like rubber necking, but without being a pain to emergency services.
This film will be added to the InternetObservationProject playlist just as soon as I get around to creating it.
